 This morning couldn’t be more stressful. I get to my office on the fifth and uppermost floor at 8am and work overwhelms me. My company, TAmobil, is doing well. We are dedicated to developing software for mobile telephony orders keep coming in. It is a good time.However, we work on issues related to the latest technology (e.g. intuitive configuration and friendly interfaces) and that raises questions not only for our customers but also our staff. I have the technical knowledge to resolve these and staff communicate me via tracking system.It is these issues which are giving me a headache. It is the recommended system to manage the issues I deal with. I get emails that allow me to identify the problem to solve and the person and the department that I have to go to. However, the problem is the almost simultaneous arrival of several issues.This is the case this Monday morning. Five incidents are received between 8am and 10am from different departments. I can solve the first three, but there are two people who complain. They say that while I take care of other incidents, they cannot get on with their work. I understand their frustration as they also adhere to deadlines. Finally, between 10 and 12, I successfully take care of these last two incidents. James and Lola say the same thing; “about time”. |  La verdad es que la mañana no puede ser más estresante. Entro a las 8 a mi despacho de la quinta y última planta y el trabajo se me acumula. A mi empresa, TAmòbil, le va bien. Nos dedicamos al desarrollo de software destinado a la telefonía móvil y no dejan de entrar encargos. Estamos en un buen momento.Sin embargo, tratamos cuestiones relacionadas con la más alta tecnología (por ejemplo, la configuración de interfaces intuitivas y amigables) y eso provoca dudas no solo en nuestros clientes, sino también por parte de nuestros empleados. Yo tengo los conocimientos técnicos oportunos para resolver esas dudas y el personal se comunica conmigo mediante un sistema de incidencias.Precisamente, son las incidencias lo que hoy me da quebraderos de cabeza. A priori, es el sistema recomendable para gestionar de manera seria las atenciones que procuro. Me llegan correos electrónicos que me permiten identificar el problema que tengo que solucionar y la persona y el departamento a los que me he de dirigir. No obstante, el problema estriba en la llegada, prácticamente simultánea, de varias incidencias.Es el caso de esta mañana de lunes. Cinco incidencias recibidas entre las 8 y 10. Además, de diferentes departamentos. Puedo solventar ya las tres primeras, pero hay dos personas que se quejan. Dicen que, mientras yo me ocupo del resto de incidencias, ellas tienen su trabajo paralizado. La verdad es que comprendo su cierta desesperación, ya que ellas también se ciñen a plazos en sus faenas. Finalmente, entre las 10 y 12, consigo encargarme exitosamente de estas dos últimas incidencias. Javier y Lola me reciben con la misma frase: "ya es hora". |

Yo le doy las gracias, pero no puedo distraerme demasiado, ya que he de comprobar cómo anotan los pedidos que se producen durante la mañana y si se empaquetan y se envían a su debido tiempo. Manolo, el responsable de embalar y cargar en los camiones los envíos me dice que todo está en orden. |

So I begin to review my notes and reflect on some improvements that can be implemented in our company: a much more functional and user-friendly interface, devices geolocation that allow the control on the sending in real time, SEO positioning campaigns that favour a greater knowledge of the products... Undoubtedly, they are great ideas, but better for me to focus first on the management of orders. I phone the boss, Marina, and she asks me to tell her my first impressions. I say that we can start to implement an ERP with modules adapted to the stock of the company and a thorough control of the raw material at our disposal and the shipments we undertake. It is a quieter than usual Thursday morning, at PERFILTEK, the technology company where I work since a year and a half. As a web designer, I am satisfied with my job. I have the impression that my colleagues are also happy with what I do, because I deliver and I pay attention to suggestions and criticisms. Considera que hago un buen trabajo, pero necesita más calidad en sus productos. Mi puesto no corre peligro, pero toca asumir un aumento de responsabilidad, en la línea de los progresos de la empresa. |

I always see training and development opportunities for the company and management it is happy with the quality of my work, so I think: who better than me to explain the most interesting points of the course? We optimize costs and benefits, which, in a green economy company, is very important. First, I telephone those in charge in the most important departments: logistics, administration and finance (mine). Everyone tells me that they will support their staff during working hours so they can go to this training activity. Once I have confirmed this, I think about the best way to organize an activity that provides relevant information quickly because workers must not be absent from work too long. Verdsystem’s maximum effectiveness must be ensured. Our goals are energy efficiency, sustainability and cost-benefit analysis. But we are also concerned that the bills add up. So, finally, I think, when the course finishes, I will give a two hour talk (with breaks) about digital finance applied to the green economy. En primer lugar, llamo por teléfono a los responsables de los departamentos mas importantes: logística, administración y finanzas (el mío). Todos me dicen que apoyarán que sus trabajadores puedan acudir en horario laboral a esta actividad formativa. Una vez tengo confirmados estos vistos buenos, pienso en la mejor manera de organizar una actividad que ofrezca información relevante en poco rato, ya que los trabajadores no deben ausentarse mucho tiempo de sus puestos de trabajo. La efectividad de Verdsystem ha de ser máxima. Nuestras metas son la eficiencia energética, la sostenibilidad y los análisis coste-beneficio. Pero también nos preocupamos de que cuadren las cuentas. Así que, finalmente, pienso que, cuando acabe el curso, daré una charla de dos horas (con descanso) sobre las finanzas digitales aplicadas a la economía verde. Llamo a Marcus y, directamente, me dice: "¿qué sorpresa tienes preparada?".
